Tabcorp and 1/ST Content have forged a long-term partnership with the Jockey Club of Turkiye (Türkiye Jokey Kulübü, TJK) to bring Turkish horse racing to Australian audiences through Tabcorp’s Sky Racing platform. This exciting collaboration will allow Australian fans to enjoy live Turkish racing events, including the renowned Gazi Derby, with both pari-mutuel and fixed-odds betting options available.
Details of agreement
The newly finalised agreement between Tabcorp, 1/ST Content, and TJK aims to introduce Turkish horse racing to Australian audiences through the Sky Racing network. This partnership will allow Sky Racing to feature Turkish races as part of its international circuit, showcasing thrilling events to Australian fans. With the addition of Turkish horse racing to its lineup, TAB becomes the first Australian wagering operator to offer vision and betting options for Turkish racing events. This collaboration introduces new betting markets for punters, providing them with more diverse and exciting options for placing their bets.
1/ST Content plays a pivotal role in delivering Turkish racing to Australia. The strategic alliance means that 1/ST Content can use its extensive broadcasting network and expertise to bring Turkish racing content to Sky Racing’s digital and retail channels.
Sky Racing is already known for broadcasting some of the most significant international horse racing events, such as the Breeders’ Cup, Epsom Derby, and Royal Ascot. The inclusion of Turkish races, including the Gazi Derby, will further enhance its offerings, making it a key platform for international horse racing in Australia. Additionally, fans can place their bets on Turkish races, thanks to pari-mutuel and fixed-odds betting options available through TAB.
According to Paul Carew, COO at Tabcorp, the partnership with TJK and 1/ST Content is a testament to Sky Racing’s commitment to bringing the best international racing to Australian audiences.
Carew stated, “Thanks to our wider strategic alliance with 1/ST Content, together with Arena Racing and Racecourse Media Group, Sky Racing continues to strengthen its position as Australia’s passport to the best international racing, and this new deal eloquently demonstrates that point. Anyone who’s ever seen the Gazi Derby knows this is a nation that loves its horses, and it routinely produces thrilling action together with some breakout trainers and jockeys on the world stage.”
Simon Fraser, Senior Vice President International at 1/ST Content, echoed Carew’s sentiments, highlighting the strength of Tabcorp’s distribution network.
Fraser expressed, “Tabcorp naturally represents a strong and enduring collaboration for 1/ST Content in the Australian market. Their distributional scope across digital and retail is second to none, while their local expertise is always a guiding hand for our delivery. We also look forward to further leveraging this relationship by delivering Turkish racing via Sky Channel to Tabcorp’s Asian customers in early 2025.”
Sky Racing’s growing international market
With the addition of Turkish racing, Sky Racing now boasts an even more impressive lineup of international events. The platform’s growing roster includes world-famous races like the Breeders’ Cup and Royal Ascot, positioning it as a leading destination for horse racing fans in Australia. The partnership’s success depends on the effective use of Tabcorp’s distribution network. By utilising both digital and retail channels, Tabcorp can reach a broader audience, delivering Turkish racing content to Australian and, eventually, Asian customers.
Looking ahead, the partnership aims to expand beyond Australia to reach Asian markets through Tabcorp’s Sky Channel by early 2025. This expansion is expected to increase the global exposure of Turkish racing and strengthen ties between racing communities worldwide.
