The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has introduced a major upgrade to its global integrity monitoring platform, aiming to bolster the fight against betting-related match manipulation. The enhanced platform, developed in collaboration with Bluehouse Technology and audited by Bulletproof, a Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) company, is designed to streamline the detection and reporting of suspicious betting activities.
“The upgrade allows us to provide a technological platform that keeps pace with the integrity requirements of our growing membership and the scope and scale of the market data we receive across our wider intelligence network,” Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, said.
With the sports betting industry experiencing rapid growth, particularly in the Americas, IBIA is scaling its technology to meet the increasing demands of its expanding membership. ??
“The upgrade of IBIA’s monitoring and alert platform is particularly timely given the imminent launch of regulated sports betting in Brazil.”
IBIA reported that during the third quarter alone, 42 alerts were issued, leading to the successful sanctioning of 21 clubs, players, and officials involved in integrity breaches.?
Strengthening the Brazilian market
The timing of this platform upgrade aligns with the imminent launch of Brazil‘s regulated sports betting market, a sector projected to generate $34 billion in turnover by 2028, according to H2 Gambling Capital. IBIA’s Brazilian membership now accounts for over 70 percent of the market’s gross gambling revenue, underscoring its dominant position in the region. The association has also partnered with Brazil’s Ministry of Finance to ensure the smooth development of the market.?
“We’re confident that this tool will provide best-in-class support for our new members and partners, including the Brazilian authorities and sporting bodies, to protect the market and sporting events.”
Protecting integrity in global sports
The upgraded monitoring platform also addresses global concerns about sports integrity, as recent allegations of match manipulation have emerged in various countries. Notable cases include a British professional snooker player receiving a five-year ban for match-fixing and corruption allegations in Brazil’s top-flight football league.
The IBIA emphasised that its revamped platform will play a “pivotal role” in supporting investigations, improving trust, and upholding integrity in global betting markets. The organisation said its continued investment in advanced technology reflects their?commitment to safeguarding regulated betting markets, protecting consumers, and preserving the integrity of global sports.?
